A message from Peter Taylor, Elected Mayor of Watford

As Mayor, I am committed to making our town a vibrant and successful place to live, work and start a business. Your views and opinions are invaluable in shaping the future of our community. We want to hear what you think about the local area and the services provided by the council.

The Big Watford Conversation is one way you can share your experiences of Watford, what you like and what you think could be better now and in the future. Is it the 17 green flag parks and other green spaces, local jobs and employment opportunities, or the availability of good quality housing? 

Your feedback on the current local issues concerning you is vital. We want to address the matters that are most important to our residents so we can work towards finding suitable solutions. 

Looking ahead, we want to know what you think will keep Watford a thriving town. To be successful in the decades to come, we need to make decisions now so that we can create a town that future generations of residents and business are proud to call home. 

Your voice matters, and I encourage you to complete this questionnaire and share your thoughts before it closes on 25 August. Together, we can shape the future of Watford and ensure it is a great place for everyone.

We want Watford to continue to be an outstanding town for people to live, work and visit. 

The Big Watford Conversation is one way you can share your experiences of Watford, what you like and what you think could be better now and in the future. 

Our survey should take about 15-20 minutes to complete and the deadline is 25 August.

To thank you for taking part, we are offering five £30 Watford Gift Vouchers if you would like to be entered into our prize draw. 

Five surveys will be selected at random – just fill in the details at the end of the survey to take part.

Priorities for Watford in the future 

We work with a number of organisations to make Watford a successful and popular town. Together, we are looking forward to what Watford might look like in 2040.

Feedback on the council

Watford Borough Council provides many services for you and the local community and also has a role in planning, supporting, encouraging or overseeing many others. 

Borough or district councils (like Watford) are required by law to provide certain services (called statutory services). These include: parks and green spaces, environmental health & licensing; household waste (rubbish) & recycling collection; street cleaning; planning & building control; elections; and housing advice and assistance.  

We also provide a range of other services and activities including holiday play schemes for children and young people, events throughout the year (like fireworks), advice and support to local businesses, two leisure centres (managed for us by Everyone Active) and grants to support the voluntary and community sector. 

Other services like roads, street lighting, social care and education are the responsibility of Hertfordshire County Council.

About You

It would be very helpful if you could complete this part of the survey. The information you give us will help us find out if all sections of the community are taking the opportunity to share their views on Watford and if our responses are representative of our community.  All the questions are voluntary and your answers will be completely anonymous and not used for any other purposes.   They are based on those asked in Census 2021.
